Cartea se adresează în mod special celor care studiază ştiinţele socio-umane, care pe parcursul facultăţii sau studiilor masterale doresc să dobândească abilităţi de cercetare şi sunt puşi în faţa provocării de natură practică de a gestiona o cercetare empirică, pornind de la tehnici avansate de analiză multivariată, precum analiza factorială exploratorie (EFA), analiza factorială confirmatorie (CFA), analiza de cale (PATH) sau modelarea prin ecuaţii structurale (SEM).
Am considerat necesară apariţia unui tratat care să exemplifice toate secvenţele şi operaţiile necesare de parcurs pentru astfel de analize avansate, dar şi exigenţele unor prezentări/redactări de rapoarte utile în scrierea de articole ştiinţifice. Demersul propus a implicat atât probleme de conţinut, de metodologie, dar şi de formă. Am încercat să nu uităm nici de aspectele de evidenţiere şi valorificare a muncii de cercetare, ca produs final.
